This forum is much smaller and owned by Malan Darras. To be honest I’ve been there for maybe 3 months max at different times because of the lack of activity, however, the content it’s got is good especially for people running (or wanting to) native traffic. The main topic is Native and that’s where the gems are being dropped from time to time.

I know some people who are really good at native and they all have good things to say about Mad Society. The price ranges from $75 to $100 depending on when you subscribe, so if you’re still thinking of it maybe wait until a good discount drops and get inside to learn some good native stuff.

This is also a paid forum with good guides. If you are planning to focus on native traffic (OutBrain, Taboola, RevContent and MGID), the guides on Mad are indispensable. Also the owner of the forum has a monthly QA thread where you can submit questions and he will answer them in a video stream with good advice. I personally like Mad more than STM because I mostly only do Native traffic and the forum is specialized in that and the forum is more smaller and intimate.

MadSociety - A Secret Place

We decided we needed something hidden from the general public and not on Facebook.

In my opinion Facebook is a terrible place to hold a premium forum.

What if FB decides they don’t like our group?

What if someone shares a weird image that gets us flagged?

If FB had any kind of problem with us – they could shut the entire thing down.

So we had to build something of our own.

They wanted a private/premium forum.

“Ok” I said, “We’ll do a forum, how much do you want it to cost?*”

They suggested price ranges from $40/month to $400/month.

They even said they would set it up for me if needed.

So I took them up on it and started planning the build out.

Several Family members had offered to help. So I asked them to send me an email with their experience with forums and what they could do. In exchange they’d get free memberships for life.

Within a few minutes I had 15 emails from people who wanted to help.

I read through them all, asked a few follow up questions and found someone who had a lot of experience with forums and could set it up right away.

We talked about it a bit, sealed the deal and got started setting things up.

MadSociety Build Out

Luckily he was a forum ninja and knew exactly what to do, which softwares to use and how to tie them together and make it all work.

It would have taken me weeks to set it up, he had it live in a few days.

In the meantime, I was keeping the Morning Coffee Fam updated on our progress. Every Periscope session was focused on the build out.

They wanted to know when it would be live and I wanted to know what they wanted me to have inside.

We went back and forth for several more days figuring it all out and adding some initial content.

When I felt like we were ready – I jumped on Periscope to say that MadSociety was ready to enlist it’s first few members. Everyone who joined this early version got a discounted price and bragging rights for being an OG.

I asked 3 people to send me an email requesting membership details. This way I could test the signup and billing process to make sure it worked.

After the Periscope session I checked my email and I probably had 20 membership requests. I laughed out loud in my apartment and thought “what they hell is going on here?”

I let 5 people inside the forum to see what happened. We made sure everyone made it in smoothly and ironed out a few errors.

The next week I said we were going to let 5 more people in. Again, I received a ton of requests and had to select just a few of them to come inside.

We weren’t ready to open the floodgates yet because I wasn’t sure if the forum would break under the pressure.

MadSociety started with just 40 or 50 people hanging out on Periscope. Today we have 100s of members from all over the world.

From time to time I post what I call “The MAD Letters”. These are a series of posts with information that I feel everyone involved in the online ad game should know.

Most of The MAD Letters are NOT tips and tricks. They are fundamentals that are the underlying force in every profitable campaign.

I also share my ideas about the future of online marketing and trends that I see coming up next.

Most recently, I laid out my idea of what will happen in the world of “Arbitrage” (click bait ads that go to SlideShows for CPM rates).

In the Letter – I showed how you could increase stability and cashflow (Arbitrage’s biggest problems) and scale these kinds of campaigns harder and faster than anyone else.

The prediction I made came true about 60 days later and people are doing it now.

If you’re new to affiliate marketing you need to have people around you who can help. In my case – I had an affiliate manager who was available 24/7 to answer my questions and guide me along to my first paid traffic campaign on Adwords.

Without his help – it would have taken me years to get to where he got me in a month.

But these days, affiliate managers aren’t willing to put in the work like that. And if you’re new, affiliate managers won’t help you because you can’t guarantee that you’re going to make them money.

It’s a Catch 22.

• They want affiliates that can send high volume traffic.
• You want them to help you do this.
• They don’t want to help.
• You’re both screwed.
